Peer pressure - what is it really? When I was young, my mother always like to compare me with my neighbours and friends. Most of the time I'm at the lower end of the scale. I really hated it. I never ask to be compared but she kept doing it right infront of me. Hence I swear, I will never compete with anyone except myself. That's when I really felt relaxed. Thinking of how others will out do u or how they want to see u as a person is very tiring. Many a times we cannot see thru the other person, be it our friends or even family, so our brains play trick on us making us think that so and so is out to backstab me, talk bad about me, want to beat me in my results. Really, peer pressure comes from yourself. If u think that person is going to compete with u then it becomes true and u keep forcing yourself to out do that person and when you don't u feel disappointed.
